Louis "Luigi" James Marino

May 27, 1932 — October 21, 2018

Louis “Luigi” James Marino, age 86, of Montrose, Colorado passed away on Sunday October 21, 2018 at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Montrose.  Lou was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 27, 1932 to Antionette and Vincent Marino.  He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia M. Marino, with whom he had recently celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on September 14th.  He is also survived by his loving children Teresa Marino of Napa, California and James Marino of Tampa, Florida and his grandchildren Emma Marino and Zachary Marino by whom he was adored and whom he adored.  He was pre-deceased by his son Vincent Marino.

He was a true Renaissance man with many talents and areas of knowledge.  He enjoyed sharing stories, frequently quoted history and had memorized the bible.  Through the years he had several passions and careers.   From a young age he was interested in health and nutrition and was a former body builder.  After graduating from Textile High School in Brooklyn he attended New York City Community College and graduated with a Degree in Fine Arts. Lou was a New York City Commercial Real Estate Broker, sold Insurance and held an honorable career in law enforcement in the New York Supreme Court.   He loved dogs and made uncountable cross-country trips with his rescue mutt Pretty Girl.

After raising their children in Glen Rock, New Jersey, Lou and Pat retired to Montrose, Colorado because of his love for the mountains and countryside.   They enjoyed travel and spending time with his cousins in Italy.   He never turned down anything chocolate and like a good Italian, he enjoyed a small glass of red wine with dinner.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life in Northern New Jersey in early 2019.
