Lottie L Rutherford (Pryor)

April 8, 1924 — July 7, 2016

Lottie L. Rutherford was born to John & Helen Pryor April 8, 1924 in New Kensington Pennsylvania. Losing both of her parents at an early age, she was raised by her adult siblings in a loving Catholic atmosphere.  She pursued ballet for a short time.  After graduating school she moved to Dallas, Texas where she shared a home with her elder sister and brother in law while pursuing and education in cosmetology.  Meeting a handsome businessman, Dumont Rutherford, who became the love of her life. They were married on Oct. 23, 1948.  She shared in this Union for 67 years till the passing of her husband on July 17, 2015 in Montrose.

Her family without a doubt always came first.  Manners, education, Christianity and common sense were always at the forefront of rearing her 3 sons and 1 daughter.  Her husband was an avid outdoorsman and although she was raised primarily a city girl she took to the out of doors at once.  Accompanying him on numerous excursions both near and far.  Children were always included as part of their adventures.  She was an excellent Mother and role model.

Some of the many things Lottie will be remembered for her personal sacrifices to assure that the family was always properly cared for.  Making sure the children were groomed for church.  Education, manners, clean clothing, an excellent cook, her daily exercise routine and the love of all her children and grandchildren were some of her best attributes.  She had a mother’s love second to none.

Preceded in death by her spouse, mother, father, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by one sister Helen Skelton, 3 sons Monty (Deb) Rutherford, James (Peggy) Rutherford, Robert Rutherford, 1 daughter Helen Rutherford, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
