Lisa Ann Abbott (60), of Montrose, died Friday, April 13, 2018 at Hopewest Hospice Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Lisa, who was loved by many, had the opportunity to live in several beautiful places throughout the United States, but the Western Slope and San Juan Mountains were her true home.
Lisa was born April 15, 1957 in Franklin, Indiana to Nancy L. and H. Joseph Portish. As a child, she was raised in Indiana and on the West Coast. She was lucky to have two large families who loved her deeply. A graduate of Lebanon High School, class of 1975, Lisa found that her career callling would be in administration. Her most recent position as the administrator of The Potter’s House, a Christian men’s rehabilitation center in Jefferson, Georgia. She loved going to work each day and even before her passing spoke of The Potter’s House as if she were still a part. It was more than a job, it was a family.
Lisa, known for her love of baseball, was one of the original board members for the Montrose Little League Association. She loved being outdoors and in the later years of her life, felt closest to the Lord there. Loved hiking, camping, and taking long drives. She loved the beach, although she preferred the rocky coastline of the Pacific Northwest to that of sunny southern California. Lisa was a prankster and always had a funny story about some random pet that she had taken in.
Lisa is survived by her five children, Rori, Drew, Chase, Joel, Lacey, and their spouses. She was an incredible Grammy to her nine grandchildren and one beige dog. Her family was her greatest legacy. Her tenth grandchild, Lenora, preceded Lisa in death.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at The Bridges in Montrose, Colorado. Please contact the family if interested in attending.
