Lewetta Ann McClarren, age 76, of Montrose passed away December 29, 2016 at Brookdale Sunrise Creek Assisted Living in Montrose.  Lewetta was born January 16, 1940 to Clarence Junior and Clara Isabell (Adcock) Mouser in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  She spent her childhood in Colorado Springs and Denver area, graduated for North High School in Denver.  Lewetta married Jay Wesley McClarren Jr. on December 22, 1957 in Denver and he preceded her in death on April 6, 1999 in Denver.

Lewetta worked for many years as an L.P.N. before retiring.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and also her friends.  Lewetta enjoyed travelling, and was an avid member of the Red Hats with her many friends here in Montrose. She also was a volunteer for Montrose Memorial Hospital for many years.  Lewetta was a member of Christ’s Church of the Valley in Montrose

Surviving family members include her son Shawn Hedrich of Montrose; three daughters Peggy McClarren-Jones of Montrose, Angela McClarren-Doyle of Delta,  and Terry McClarren of Thornton, Colorado; one sister Peggy June Mouser-Newell of Arvada, Colorado; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  Lewetta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay and a brother James Kirk Mouser.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, or the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado.  A celebration of Lewetta’s life will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ’s Church of the Valley, on East Main Street in Montrose with Gary Hodges officiating. At Lewetta’s request, cremation has taken place and the service will conclude at the Church.  Scattering of ashes will take place at a later date at the family cabin.  Condolences may also be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
