Leola Lloyd Allison, 98, of Montrose Colorado passed away on February 3, 2015 at Sunrise Creek Assisted Living.

Leola was born November 12, 1916 in Sauquoit, New York, daughter of Helen Merrill and Wells Lynn Lloyd.  She graduated from Syracuse University, School of Nursing in 1937.  Leola married Charles Stewart Northrup in May 1938.  He passed away on November 21, 1953.  In September 1954 she was hired as a school nurse by the East Aurora public Schools where she remained for twenty years.  She was married to the Reverend Norman Irving, pastor of the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church in 1963.  Norman passed away in 1969.  She married Wayne N. Allison on February 22, 1975.  They shared a full life living in the Gunnison area.  Wayne passed away on December 21, 1996.

During her lifetime, Leola was active in nursing organizations, a 50 years member of the Eastern Star, Charter Member of Chapter HK PEO in Gunnison, Colorado, member of the National Clock Association as well as a chapter in Grand Junction, member of the Community Church and Deborah Circle.  She worked at the Gunnison Health Care Center when they needed nurses and spent six years on their board.  She performed volunteer work in later years at the Pioneer Museum and the Opportunity Shop.

She is survived by her children Lynn Northrup and wife Jessica, Sharon Northrup; grandsons Scott and Curt Northrup and Jay and Robert Ziegler and three great grandchildren.  She is also survived by step children Kathy Addis and Wane Allison Jr.

Honoring Leola’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be spread in the Fossil Ridge Wilderness Area in Gunnison, Colorado, where she shared some of her fondest memories with Wayne.  Donations in memory of Leola can be made to HopeWest Hospice, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Colorado 81402.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose, Colorado.
