Larue Catlin (Booth)

LaRue Catlin age 85, of Montrose, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Montrose Memorial Hospital.  On September 10, 1930, LaRue was born to Herman and Thelma Booth in Peyton, Colorado. LaRue moved with her family from Peyton to Norwood Colorado, where she was raised and received her education.

She married Vernon Cornforth August 10, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1993. LaRue was united in marriage with Verel Catlin on October 7, 1977. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2005.

LaRue was a devoted wife, mother, and partner her entire adult life. Her passions included flower gardens, farming and spending time with her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was reading, especially books by Louis L’Amour. She also loved to dance and travel with friends. After retiring from many wonderful years of farming, she and Verel especially enjoyed spending time with their “coffee group” and Sunday breakfast with family.

Surviving family members who were honored to share LaRue’s life include one daughter; Verla (Richard) Haslem Montrose, three sons; Daren (Sree) Cornforth, Providence, Utah, Stanley (Ramona) Cornforth, Montrose, and Thomas (Kathy) Cornforth, Montrose; two stepdaughters: Barbara Allen, Montrose, Phyllis (Marty) Scott, Wickenburg, AZ, and stepson Wallace (Alice) Catlin, Del Norte, CO. She had 23 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; one sister Glenda (Ivan) Cole, Tucson, AZ; one brother Clinton (Shirleen) Booth, Salt Lake City, UT and a daughter-in-law Joyce (Larry) Catlin, Monte Vista, CO.

LaRue was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, stepdaughter Beverly and husband Don Weber, stepson Larry Catlin, step sons-in-law Dallas Allen, Russ Beamer and one great grandchild.

A funeral service in loving remembrance and celebration of LaRue’s life will be officiated by Pastor Steve Reinhard at 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 4th, at Montrose United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Montrose.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, In Memory of LaRue Catlin, may be made to: HopeWest Hospice, 725 S. 4th St., Montrose, CO 81401, Alzheimer’s Association 4104 Outlook Blvd. Bldg. B, Pueblo, CO 81008; or San Juan Cancer Center attention- Francie Smiles, 600 S. 5th St., Montrose, CO 81401.  Arrangements are being handled under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home 802 East Main, Montrose,  970-249-2121.
