Kenneth Wayne Zimbelman

August 5, 1950 — July 11, 2019

Kenneth Wayne Zimbelman 68 went to be with the Lord, July 11, 2019, with his wife Penny Lynn (Sanburg) Zimbelman at his side. He fought cancer valiantly but as he said, he lost the battle but won the war, he was going to be with his savior. He was born on August 5, 1950 in Longmont, Colorado, the son of Bonnie Faye (Walker) Zimbelman and Donald Edward Zimbelman. He spent his childhood in Longmont. Proudly serving his country during the Vietnam war. In the Army 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, receiving several commendations of which the 2 Bronze stars one with the V device were his proudest and well earned. He attended Oklahoma Tech graduating in the advertising field. But found it to confining to work in an office. Coming to Montrose he went to work at RE1J as the carpenter/locksmith at which he retired after 27 years. Here he also met and married his wife of 33 years. Ken’s greatest passions were God, and his family. Children Donald Maurice Zimbelman of Hartford, Connecticut, His’ little girl’ Ocie Marie (Zimbelman) Johnson of Rockaway Beach, Oregon, stepsons Jason Edward Crisp of Montrose, Colorado, Stephen Andrew Crisp of Winslow, Arizona. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ken was an amazingly talented individual, loving carpentry he made beautiful furniture, accomplished artist, photographer and sharing his life in writing. He also loved being outdoors, fishing, working in the yard or just enjoying nature. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans, 11 S. Park Ave. Montrose, Colorado 81401, Memorial service will be held at Grace Community Church Friday, July 19, 2019 at 10:00 am.
