Karen (Janie) Story (Wagner)

Karen “Janie” Story, aged 72, passed away early Saturday morning in her home in Montrose, Colorado after a short but brave battle with cancer. Janie was born in Billings, MT to David and Esther Wagner on February 5th, 1946. Janie has one brother, Duane (Sue), of Laurel, MT. Janie married Jerry Story in 1967 and they settled in Montrose where they raised their family. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

Janie and Jerry have two sons, Greg (Erika) Story of Montrose, CO and Jim (Romana) Story of Parkland, FL. Janie was the proud and devoted Grandma to four grandchildren: Emma Story (16), Katy Story (12), Zachariah Story (9), and Benjamin Story (7).

Janie worked at Delta Montrose Electric Association for 31 years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, cheering for the Denver Broncos, as well as walking and hiking with friends.  Janie was full of warmth and kindness. She also had a great sense of humor with a knack for one liners that always left her friends and family laughing. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and her artistic flower gardens.

A service celebrating her life will be Friday September 28 2018 at 11am at Grace Community Church in Montrose with interment to follow at Grand View Cemetery west of Montrose.
