June Marie Chandler. Age 76, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away
December 1, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. June was born June 9, 1940 to Andrew Jackson and Evelyn Marie (Berry) Ross in Montrose. She spent her childhood and graduated from Montrose High School in 1958. At the age of 23, June married Robert E. “Bob” Chandler on December 13, 1963 in Denver, Colorado where she was living at that time. In 1972, June and husband Bob moved to Montrose where they made their home and spent their retirement years.
They moved to a farm just North of Montrose and raised sheep, goats, llamas and chickens for 40 years. She enjoyed her farm life and raising her animals together with her husband. She was a skilled horseshoe thrower and loved the outdoors. June also worked as an assistant to the City Manager for 27 years prior to her retirement. She was involved with MADA and Community Options Inc. Following their retirement, they enjoyed traveling for many years. June was a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a friend. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an extremely generous person and gave of her time and help to others in need.
Surviving family members include her sister Joy (Ross) King and husband Harold of Olathe, Colorado, grandsons, Justin Chandler and his wife Roberta of Montrose, Kevin Chandler of Montrose, great- grandsons Jacob Chandler and Jack Chandler. June was preceded in death by her parents, son Randy Chandler, daughter Terri Chandler, two sisters Jane Taylor and Ruth Vendetti.
A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, December 9th at 3:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, with a Celebration of June’s life will follow the visitation at 4:00 pm. The service will conclude at the Chapel. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
