Juanita H. Newberry, age 93, of Cimarron, Colorado passed away early Monday morning, October 15, 2018 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.

Juanita was born March 28, 1925 in McAllen, Texas to Dario and Josefa Hernandez.  She spent her childhood and received her education in Texas.

Juanita married her husband William on December 1, 1948 and celebrated 66 years of marriage before he passed away January 19, 2015. William and Juanita were owner and operators of the Newberry Store in Cimarron.  In 1959 the family moved to Cimarron to help his mother run the Newberry Store and there they resided and made their home until their time of death.  Bill and Juanita loved to play poker and loved to visit Mesquite and enjoy some time away. Juanita enjoyed playing video poker and spending time with family and her grandkids.

They had resided in Bend, Oregon and Wickenburg Arizona, before moving to Colorado and making their home until their time of death.

Surviving family members include her sons Don (Barbara) Newberry of Montrose, and Jim Newberry of Cimarron, Colorado; four grandchildren Jessica, Darcy, Dylan and Bethany, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, her nieces and nephews, along with a special Niece Diana from Texas.  Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Dario and Josefa Hernandez, her husband, Bill along with her sisters Cata, Mona and Maria; brothers Dario and Chalo.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 6:00 P.M., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.  The service will conclude at the chapel with inurnment at a later date in the Cimarron Cemetery.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
