John Malcolm LaBorde

Montrose

John was born on May 14, 1930, in Bordelonville, Louisiana to Olivia and Lackey LaBorde. He was one of eight children. John served in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired after 35 years from the postal service in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1986, he moved to Loveland, Colorado. John was very active in his retirement years with many philanthropic projects with Kiwanis, church, and the Make-a-Wish foundation. He started the Youth Empire which later merged with the Boys and Girls Club. He moved to Montrose, Colorado in 2021. He died there on January 12, 2024.

John is survived by his wife Carol, stepdaughter Ruth, stepson Trevor, grandchildren Colter and Dylan, sister Shirley, brother Joe, sister-in-law Sheila, first wife Coleen, son John, son Timothy, daughter Lynette, and daughter Mary. He loved fishing and cooking, especially Cajun dishes.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at First United Presbyterian Church, in Loveland, reception following. There will also be a casual gathering on Friday, May 10, from 3-6pm at TownePlace Suites, 256 E. 2nd St, Loveland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at First United Presbyterian Church, in Loveland, reception following. There will also be a casual gathering on Friday, May 10, from 3-6pm at TownePlace Suites, 256 E. 2nd St, Loveland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church.
