John “Jack” Hobaugh, a Montrose Colorado resident for 58 years, died on April 9, 2022 at the home of his son, Howard Hobaugh in Kirtland, NM. He was 93 years old and born on July 22, 1928.
His Funeral Service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, 2890 N. Townsend, Montrose, CO. The service will be on Tuesday, April 19th at 3:00 p.m.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Bernice Hobaugh. He is survived by his wife Marjory Hobaugh of 71½ years. He met and married Marjory Hoover of Parker, Arizona on July 29 , 1950.
He is survived by three children – Howard (Stella) Hobaugh, Lenice (Rod) Geiger and Ed (Kathy) Hobaugh; by six grandchildren – Howard (Kenda) Hobaugh, John (Andrea) Hobaugh, Brian Hobaugh, David Geiger, Jackie (Jeremy) Anderson and Tommy (Melanie) Hobaugh; and by eight great grandchildren – Alissa and Katy Hobaugh, Brenna (Charles) Dobey, Noah, Abbie, and Amie Hobaugh, Landon and Tyler Anderson.
He started his work career at the Bureau of Reclamation at the age of 16.
He retired after 38 years of service in 1983 as a power dispatcher for the Department of Energy.
He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 1952. He served the Lord faithfully during his lifetime. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church for many years. The family is greatly comforted to know that he had a testimony of salvation and is with his Lord in heaven. His legacy was that he raised his children in church and had them under the teaching of God’s Word.
He enjoyed telling stories of his experiences to everyone he met.
Whenever someone told a story about him his favorite response was “Do you have to tell everything you know.” His response to the question, “How are you?” was “I am slow-k.”
