Joey J. Manganello passed away in his home Tuesday April 30th, 2024, at the age of 66. Thanks to Hope West and the love and support of his family, Joey was able to spend his final days in his beautiful home that he had built himself and was so proud of.
Joey was a man of many talents and a jack of all trades. He was a talented artist and musician. He played the drums, vocals and harmonica in a local band called High Country with his family. Over the years, Joey worked as a high scaler at Crystal Dam, the mill at Camp Bird Mine, Logging, Industrial mechanic at Sullair, meter reader at San Miguel Power, he delivered parts and oxygen for Hartman Brothers, and he also owned and operated his own construction business called Buckhorn Home Improvements. There was nothing that Joey couldn’t do or wouldn’t do to provide for his family.
Joey was born July 5th, 1957, in Mesa Arizona and moved to Montrose at the age of 16. He fell in love with the mountains and spent his days camping, fishing, hunting, shooting guns and archery, riding dirt bikes, and boating. He loved a good thunderstorm, listening to good music, a good game of horseshoes, and sitting around the fire with good friends and family. Joe was the life of the party, but more than anything, He loved his family.
Joey was preceded in death by his son, Tanner Manganello, his brother Jimmy Manganello, his father Johny Manganello, his mother Dorris Svaldi, stepfather John Svaldi, and in laws Marlys Mills and Ray Wilson. He was survived by his brother Jerry Manganello, son Cody Manganello and wife of 48 years, Marla Manganello.
