Joe V. Rocha, age 86, of Montrose, died October 25, 2014 at his home. Joe was born March 13, 1928 to Macadio “Max” and Francis “Valencia” Rocha in Sydney, Montana. He was raised in Sydney until the age of six, then his family moved to Montrose, where he received his education and made his home until his time of death.
Joe married his wife Madeline in Montrose, and had celebrated 52 years of marriage at the time of his death. Madeline preceded him in death on July 22, 2013 in Montrose. He was a butcher and meat processor for many, many years, working until he was 80 at a job he very much enjoyed. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. A relaxing time was spent watching wrestling and cowboy movies and a big fan of the Denver Broncos. Special times were spent with his family as dad and grandpa, and great-grandpa
Surviving family members include his children, Smedia Chacon of Montrose, Francis Rocha of Phoenix, Arizona, Donna Rocha of Denver, Rosemarie (Anthony) Martinez of Montrose, James (Amanda) Coca of Montrose, Betty Chavez of Montrose, Lori Howard of Montrose, Erby (Stacey) Rocha of Montrose, Diane Thompson of Montrose; Brothers, Armando Rocha of Salt Lake City, Utah, Norman Rocha of Denver; 36 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife Madeline, son Max Rocha, daughter Anna Mae Herrera, granddaughters Mariah and Sara Thompson, brothers, Frank, Arthur, Robby and Robby and Rudy; son-in-law Andy Chavez.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Crippin Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co
