Lloyd was born and raised in Olathe, Colorado on July 29, 1929. He attended Fairview School until the eighth grade. He began farming with his father at a young age.  He found a love of the land that he followed for all of his life by farming chili, potatoes, onions, beans, and corn. In 1953, Lloyd bought a 40 acre farm that he lived on for the rest of his life.

He married the love of his life, Evelyn Eugenia Jacquez, on August 28, 1949 in Montrose, Colorado.  This year they celebrated 70 years of marriage. Lloyd and Evelyn had three children, eight grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Off of the farm, Lloyd enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in athletic events, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. You often heard him talking about the successes of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Lloyd  passed away peacefully in his home on December 25, 2019 surrounded by family.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents: Levi and Fidelia Archuleta, and sisters: Sanida Barajas, Virginia Wilson, and Evelyn Gallegos.

Lloyd is survived by his wife: Evelyn, siblings: John Archuleta, Robert Archuleta, and Mary Lou Martinez, children: Sharon (Julian) Basagoitia, Lloyd (Debra) Archuleta, and Joey (Stacie) Archuleta, grandchildren: Rick (Teddi, Alex, and Marika) Basagoitia,  Jeffery (Kathryn and Cale) Basagoitia, David (Tara, Hayden, and Bailee) Basagoitia, Felicia (Justin, Mackenzie, and Stephen) Rash, Steven (Amy, Ava, Maite, and Alyssa) Basagoitia, Kimberly (Herman, Arianna, Lexa, and Diego) Muniz, John Archuleta, and Kayley Archuleta.

A viewing for Lloyd will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose, Colorado at 9:30 am.  The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Lloyd will be laid to rest in Olathe, Colorado. Celebration of life lunch will be held at the Pea Green Hall following services at 2:00 pm.

The family requests that flowers be sent to Crippin Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope West Hospice in Montrose.
