Joanne Jones
August 3, 1932 ~ November 30, 2018
The best words to describe Joanne are: “She loved children.”
Joanne was born in Sandburn, Indiana to Helen B and Clarence R McBride.
She lived there for five years, and then moved to Wisconsin where she received her schooling. She graduated college in Kansas City. She became a teacher in early childhood education. Her favorite grade was the fourth grade. When teaching at Muncie, Kansas she learned that her class had never been to see the capitol of Kansas at Topeka. They also had never been on a train. So she took them on a field trip: a train ride to visit the capitol buildings and to see other things in Topeka. She also taught children’s Sunday school for over fifty years.
Joanne married Willis Albert (Bert) Jones, Jr. on June 4, 1954. They had four children: Thomas Keith, Lucinda Kay, Timothy Craig and Matthew Kirk. They have 14 grandchildren and numerous great grand-children.
The family moved to Montrose in 1978. She loved river rafting, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and climbing in the beloved San Juan Mountains. The most important thing she felt that she did in life was to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was 10 years old.
A Memorial Service is scheduled on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2:00PM at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, Montrose, Colorado. Cremation has taken place.
