Jewell Ann Lutz, age 80, of Montrose, CO., passed away October 25, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital & Medical Center in Grand Junction, CO. from complications in surgery.
Jewell was born August 17, 1939 to Robert and Willie (Anthony) Welch in Kimballl, West Virginia. She married David Alan Lutz on May 20, 2961 in Arvada, CO. , and had also resided in Denver, CO. Jewell was Program Administrator for the State of Colorado for many years, before moving to Montrose following her retirement in 1994.
Jewell enjoyed riding her ATV with the Uncompahgre Trail Riding Association. She also loved spending time with her family fishing in various lakes in Colorado and gambling with friends in Laughlin, NV.
Surviving family members include her husband David Lutz; son David (Val) Lutz Jr., of Thornton, CO; daughter Tracie Giovanni of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Alycia (Sam) Quraini of Aurora, CO and David Lutz III of Fredricksburg, VA., sisters Barbara LaFleur, Kaye Welch, Billie Bitely; brothers Larry Welch and Anthony Welch. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Welch. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
