Jerry Lawrence Austin of Montrose, CO passed away on April 2, 2025, at Montrose Regional Hospital surrounded by his daughter and son-in-law after a short battle with cancer and pneumonia. Jerry was born May 11, 1949, in Norwood, CO to Lawrence Jess Austin and Develva May Austin (Patterson). Jerry married the love of his life, Joann Mercy Atencio, and had 3 children: Frankie (Myriam) Saucedo, Stephanie (Marcos) Parra and Diamond Austin.
Jerry loved hunting, fishing, being in the mountains, welding, and ranching. Jerry’s best times in life were being with his kids and grandchildren.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his wife JoAnn Mercy Atencio, dad Lawrence Austin, mom Develva Austin, 2 sisters; Mary Mae Austin and Neda Louise Austin, and 3 brothers; Melvin Earl Austin, Leonard James Austin, and Jessie James Austin.
He is survived by his 3 children; Frankie (Myriam) Saucedo with 5 children of Durango, CO, Stephanie (Marcos) Parra with 3 children of Montrose, CO and Diamond Austin with 3 children of Moundsville, West Virginia, his brother Clarence (Sandy) Austin, 2 sisters; Eulah (Sam) Hawks and Lila (Roy) Olson, and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 9th, at 10:00 AM and the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM located at the Montrose Seventh~Day Adventist Church at 1551 Valley Rd. in Montrose, CO. Interment will take place at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose, CO following the funeral service.
