James Ullrich, age 95, of Montrose, Colorado died October 3, 2014 at Valley Manor Care Center, in Montrose. He was born February 23, 1919 to Frank and Elizabeth (Ritter) Ullrich. James married Grace Beatrice Martin in Littleton, Colorado and she preceded him in death on December 3, 2003. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Montrose.
James served his country in the United States Army during World War II at the Alaskan Chain of the Aleutian Islands Campaign and the Battle of Attu. His special duty was as a Combat Engineer serving from 1941 to 1945.
He was a carpenter throughout his adult life and enjoyed time with family and gardening, and was the youngest in the family of five children. Surviving family members include his sons Jon Ullrich of Montrose, James R. Ullrich of Dillon, Colorado and Daniel Daggett of Hemet, California; daughter Judy Ullrich; one sister Elizabeth Beserger of Missouri; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Grace, a son Martin Daggett, three brothers Frances, George and Dale, sister Gertrude Newberger.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Lundberg officiating. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
