James Thomas “Tom” Drake was born in Marion, Ohio, December 31, 1945. He grew up in the family home in New Bloomington, Ohio. After graduating high school, he attended Kent State University. When called upon to serve his country, he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. After returning, he was discharged and in 1969 he married Donna McCoy Drake of Las Vegas.
From there, he attended Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and was ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God denomination, graduating in 1973. He actively pastored churches throughout the U.S. and retired in 2006. After retiring, he pursued hiking, biking and traveling with his wife, Donna, and worked at JC Penney’s until he retired from there in 2014. Tom went to be with his Lord Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Tom is survived by his wife, Donna, his sister-in-law Jackie Drake of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a niece, Tiah Drake of Ft. Wayne and a nephew, Jeff (Anne) Drake of Albion, Indiana. Tom’s celebration of life will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Crossroads Victory Church, Montrose, Colorado.
