James (Jim)Thomas Argys of Montrose, Colorado died on December 8, 2018 at the age of 70, but his larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness will not be forgotten.
He was born in Salida, Colorado on January 12, 1948. He was an only child of Ted and Helen Argys until his cute, sweet twin sisters (Sharon and Karen) were born years later and thus he became the older brother. He spoiled them rotten by taking them to A&W Root Beer for frosty baby root beers in his 1947 Nash, making them a ‘coke float’ while working at Salida Drug or taking them to the Fish Hatchery in Nathrop to feed the rainbow trout. Once on his way to Salida for Christmas, dressed as Santa Claus, he was stopped by the State Patrol for speeding in South Park. No ticket or warning was issued.
Jim graduated from Salida High School, Class of 1966. He went onto the University of Colorado graduating in 1972. He was a CPA, sold cars (a chip off the old block), sold solar and was an entrepreneur later in life.
Jim could make an entire restaurant laugh and embarrass his two brother-in-laws at the same time. He loved his dogs. Chili’s Restaurant lost a loyal customer upon his death as he frequented the restaurant since 1980.
At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes and thus began a long life of monitoring his blood sugar and daily insulin shots. A day before his death, he went into a diabetic coma and Heaven gained a feisty angel.
Sharing his feistiness and stubbornness is his surviving sister, Karen Argys Lloyd, nephew Matthew Lloyd, nieces Brittany Lloyd Wakefield, Nicole Howard Lee, and Shelley Howard Rhodes, two great nieces and two great nephews.
Waiting at the Pearly Gates were his parents, grandparents, sister Sharon and his many beloved pets.
Everyone who remembers Jim is asked to celebrate him by making someone laugh, smile or giving your dog (if you have one) a big hug.
A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank Pastor Ben Garate of Calvary Chapel for his abundant kindness, care, compassion and friendship given to Jim for many years.
