February 28, 1952 – August 13, 2015

James Paul Hunt, age 63, of Olathe, passed away August 13, 2015 at his home with his wife of 40 years at his side.  James was born February 28, 1952 to Donald Paul and Carol Ann (Choquette) Hunt in San Antonio. TX.  He spent his childhood and received his education in Texas.  Following High School he served his country in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division.  James moved to Colorado after his discharge.  James married Barbara A. Dodge on June 28, 1975 in Montrose, Colorado.  James & Barbara served as youth leaders at the 1st Baptist Church of Montrose, shared the gospel through music and song.  James & Barbara moved to California, Kansas and Washington State, before returning to Montrose and helping with music with Rev.  & Mrs. Mel Dreessen traveling in Rural Southwest Colorado & Southeast Utah in After School Bible Clubs.  James and his family moved to Olathe in 1996 where he made his home until his time of death.  Prior to his retirement, James worked as an electrician, and in various areas of construction.    James was an accomplished guitar player and enjoyed hunting and camping on the Uncompahgre Plateau, gardening and spending time with his family.

 

Surviving family members include his wife, Barbara, of the family home in Olathe, sons, Jacob P. (Kristie) Hunt of Hotchkiss, Titus A. Hunt of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Kezia H. (Erik) Colnick of Fredrick, Colorado; a sister Lee Ann (Robert) Mora of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Ian Brophy and Benjamin Hunt and numerous nieces & nephews and wonderful friends.  James was preceded in death by one son, Jeremiah J. Hunt, one sister, Theresa Hicks and his parents.

 

A Memorial Service in celebration of James’ life will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Crossroads Victory Worship Center, in Montrose.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
