James Frank Overton

James Frank Overton of Montrose, Co. passed away September 17, 2014 .
He was the son of James Frank and Virginia Bailey Darden Overton of Houston, Texas who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Fairy Scherz Overton, his sons, Jeff Overton (Anne) of Reed Point, Montana, and Greg Overton (Debra) of Ridgway, Colorado.
His surviving grandchildren are Rachel Overton of Boulder, CO, Megan Overton of Jackson, WY,, Devin Overton of Ophir, CO, Victoria Gillin of Bozeman, MT, Emily Overton of Jackson, Wy and Graeham Gillin of Helena, MT..
Loving nieces and nephews who survive him by marriage are, Karen Beard Barritt,(Steve) of Arvada, Colorado, Beverly Means Ogilvie (Staman) of Houston, Texas, David B. Means (Liz) of Gloster, LA, David Braxton Scherz (Yvonne) of Houston, Texas, and Kari Scherz McKormick (Doug) of Sugarland, Texas. He is also survived by a cousin, Edwin E. Bailey of Laguna Woods, CA.
Frank received a BS degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice University in 1948 and a MS degree from the University of Texas in 1950. He married Fairy Scherz of Keatchie, Louisiana on December 23, 1950. He served in the US Army at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 1950 to 1952 He was employed with Shell Oil Company from 1948 until 1979. During that time he served as a Gas Processing Engineer in Houston, Texas; Sheridan, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana and New York, New York. He also served as Manager of Purchasing in New York before returning to Houston where he retired. After retirement he was named President of Trend Construction Company in Edmond, Oklahoma. In 1983 Frank began his third career as a consultant to Oil and Gas Construction Companies. In this capacity he and Fairy traveled and lived extensively in the United States , Australia, Venezuela, Argentina, South Korea, Japan and Oman. He finalized his working years as Executive Administrator for First Presbyterian Church Houston. At that time he and Fairy retired to their home on the Galveston Bay in Seabrook, Texas.. In 2004 Frank and Fairy moved to Boise, Idaho to be closer to children and grandchildren. In 2012 they moved to Montrose/Ridgway, Colorado where Frank resided at Sunrise Creek Assisted Living/Memory Care.
Services for Frank will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church, Montrose, CO. Alan D. Gibson, Pastor, will officiate.
