Jacqueline Mary Osorio

August 23, 1936 — January 15, 2025

Montrose

Rev. Jacqueline Mary Osorio, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away on January 15, 2025, at the Elk Ridge Care Center at the age of 88. She was born on August 23, 1936, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to John Burns Lalley, deceased, and Gertrude Helen Ryan, who also passed away on January 15, in 1974. She had one brother, John B. Lalley, who passed away in 1965.

Jackie was always proud of her Cherokee heritage and honored the spiritual practices of all tribal people. She loved to attend pow wows and other Native American tribal gatherings in other states.

The family also lived in Philadelphia, PA, and New Jersey. She attended school in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and graduated from Stratford Career Institute in 2011 with a certificate in Art Studies. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and crafting.

She married the love of her life, Gilberto Osorio, on September 26, 1959, who was also proud of his Taino heritage. They had no children but loved caring for animals. They made their home in Homestead, Florida, working together taking care of and training horses. They later worked alongside founder Dr. W. Haas in the Miami Serpentarium, the premier pioneer venom production laboratory in the world, caring for lizards, snakes and other reptiles, extracting venom from poisonous snakes. Jackie survived several snake bites.

Moving to Montrose, Colorado in 2009, she lived there until her passing but always yearned to return to Florida one day. Her wishes will be granted, and her cremains will be returned to her beloved Florida by her good friend, Clay Campbell, longtime friend of the family.

Interested in religion, spirituality and healing practices, Jackie joined the Lively Stones World Healing Fellowship in Lloyd, FL, and was ordained as a minister in June of 2002. She was active in the Spiritual Awareness Center in Montrose, especially enjoying the Open-Heart Drum Circle, playing summer evenings at Main in Motion and at the Peace Pole in Ute Indian Park.

Jackie is best known for her inspired coffee readings which she freely did for friends and acquaintances. Local restaurants provided her with coffee and napkins at her reserved tables.
