JACK D. FELIX

Donald J. Felix, (Jack) 87, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s on May 18, 2020 at Hope West Hospice in Grand Junction, CO. Jack, the youngest of four boys, was born in Olathe, CO on August 24, 1932 to John and Pearl Felix.  He attended school and graduated from Olathe High School in 1950.

He met his wife Betty Lou Bell in front of the Olathe movie theater in an incident involving a flat tire.  Betty moved to Harrison Arkansas with her parents, but not long after Jack traveled to Arkansas where they were wed on June 22, 1952.  Jack worked several jobs in their early years including the Olathe Potato Growers, City Market and J.C. Penney’s before getting a job with Delta-Montrose Electric.  Jack finished his career at Utah Power and Light in Salt Lake City, retiring after 10 years.

The couple lived in Olathe for many years where they raised three children, Dusty, Jonni and Cindy.  In 1976 they bought a home on Spring Creek Mesa where they grew a huge garden that they shared with everyone who came to visit.  After retirement they returned to their home on Spring Creek Mesa.  The couple enjoyed hunting and fishing together along with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling including trips to Mexico and Alaska. Jack was a longtime member of the Montrose Elks where he and Betty enjoyed many Saturday nights dancing the night away.   Among the many things they shared, was their birthday.  Both Jack and Betty were born on the same month, day, year, just minutes apart and enjoyed celebrating that day together with family, never owning up to who was the oldest.

His beloved wife Betty passed away on October 19, 2017 and he missed her every day.
Jack is survived by Dusty and wife, Barbara Felix, (Grand Junction, CO) and their children Marisa and husband, James Campbell and Dustin and wife, Heidi. Jonni and husband Marshall Bishop (Conroe, TX) and their son, Stephen. Cindy and husband Rick Rienks, (Colorado Springs, CO) stepsons Kevin and Matt, daughters Jessica Kirkpatrick and husband Blake Treadway, Keli Kirkpatrick and husband Braulio Jerez, and their son, Ellis.
