Henry J. Alire, age 83, of Montrose, Colorado died April 3, 2014 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital.  He was born January 17, 1931 to Juan and Isadora (Martinez) Alire in Ignacio, Colorado.  He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Ignacio.  Henry married Viola Candelaria on January 17, 1956 in Durango, Colorado, and she preceded him in death on August 20, 1997.  He was briefly married to Patricia Smith of Grand Junction, Colorado.

Henry served his country in the United States Army.  He was a Master Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Rangers and served two tours of duty in Korea and was honorably discharged.  He was a member of the American Legion Post in Durango.

Henry had resided in Durango, Cortez, and Montrose, Colorado.  Prior to Henry’s death, he was a resident of Olathe, Colorado where he made his home until his time of death. 

Surviving family members include his sons Charles (Lindsay) Alire of Montrose, Matt Alire of Olathe; daughter Timmie (Raymundo) Lozano of Delta, Co; brother Rudolph Alire of Canyon City, Colorado; and sisters Sylvia Weaver of Ignacio, Colorado, Frances Wilkey of Bloomfield, New Mexico; four grandchildren Robbie Tucker of Yellow Jacket, Colorado, Monica Lozano of Douglas, Arizona. Brianna Lozano and Yolanda Lozano of Delta, Colorado; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Alire. At Henry’s request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Condolences may also be sent to the family at www.crippinfuneralhome.com.
