Helena Paiz Archuleta

Helena Paiz Archuleta, a remarkable woman of faith, love and strength passed away peacefully Monday, March 10, 2025 at her home in Olathe, Colorado. She was born February 12, 1924, in Montrose, Colorado to Maria Dolores Sandoval and José Alfredo Paiz, both natives of Mora, New Mexico. Helena married the love of her life, Claude Archuleta on February 6, 1946. Together they had two beautiful daughters, Ellen Joan and Dorothy Jane. They were married for over 50 years. Sadly her husband passed away in 1992 and her eldest daughter, Ellen Joan in 1993. Helena truly lived life to the fullest through hard work and simple pleasures; hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, being with family and talking to everyone she met about her Heavenly Father, Jehovah God. When her granddaughter recently told her that she was an amazing woman she replied, “well, I have to be!” Everyone who had the honor to meet this beautiful, petite, feisty and strong woman was blessed with hospitality, love, laughs and lots of fun stories of her memorable childhood with her 11 siblings! A Legacy of Love and Strength, Helena is survived by her loving daughter, Dorothy Jane, who selflessly cared for her over the past 25 years. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Michael, Melissa, Claudette, Erica, and Renata; eleven great-grandchildren: Ashley, Angelica, Isaac, Erick, Acacia, Alejandro, Eva Luna, Andrés, Ualani, Wailea, and Lehua; and two great-great-grandchildren, Azrael and Mason. Not to mention countless nieces, nephews & extended family. All whose lives Helena touched are invited to the Olathe cemetery this Friday, March 14th at 11 AM to honor her as she is laid to rest.
