Hayden Scot Heinold

October 27, 1994 ~ March 21, 2015

Hayden Scot Heinold was born October 27th, 1994 In Grand Junction, Colorado, to his parents, Melinda and Levi Heinold.  Hayden was a happy baby and left this world as a happy man on March 21st, 2015.

Hayden started his life adventure wrapped snuggly against his mother’s chest while riding a snowmobile to and from the family home on Hasting’s Mesa.  Hayden continued the adventurous life, loving the outdoors and enthusiastically embracing any activity that involved excitement, laughter, and crazy physical exploits. His charismatic and persuasive personality resulted in many wild adventures for Hayden and his friends.  Hayden was a compassionate, loving and sensitive person.  He cared intensely for people and the world around him as reflected in his soulful artwork: self-portraits, etchings, watercolors, and exquisite woodworking.

Hayden attended Ridgway schools from kindergarten through graduation in 2013.   He was studying business at Fort Lewis College in Durango.  While in middle school Hayden found his passion for climbing.  He was on the school state-qualifying, climbing team from middle school through high school, his last two years serving as captain.  Hayden loved swimming, competing with the Ouray Screaming Eels for several years. Hayden participated in 4-H projects including raising chickens and lambs, skeet shooting and rocket making.

Family members include his parents, Levi and Melinda; his sister, Alsace; grandparents Fred and Joyce Hamrick of Montrose; Grandmother Janet Heinold of Iowa; his great-grandmother Alsace Heinold of Iowa; his soul-mate, Lauren; and his faithful companion, Lucy.  He is also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebratory service was held at Ridgway Town Park on Friday, March 27th.  Thank you to Mike Ritchie, Colleen Gardner and all of his unrelated brothers who shared their stories of Hayden.  Thank you to the True Grit and Maggie’s Kitchen of Ouray.

Donations can be made in Hayden’s honor to the George Gardner Scholarship Fund,  Alpine Bank, 119 Liddell St. Ridgway, Co . 81432.  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family
