Harvey and Evelyn moved to a farm in Olathe, CO in 1956, where Harvey farmed and delivered the mail as a rural mail carrier. Many people around town still remember the man who gave candy to the kids who came out to get the mail. Harvey was interested in many things. He was a member of the Antique tractor club and loved to see his “Johnny poppers” in action. He was thrilled when a hot air balloon landed on the farm during the Montrose Balloon festival days. Harvey grew many beautiful gladiolas and they were a favorite flower. The family also enjoyed camping and jeeping in the San Juan mountains. Harvey had been in a harmonica band when he was a school boy, and loved to play “Red Wing.” He enjoyed singing along when Evelyn would play the piano. Harvey was fascinated with machines, gadgets, tools, and technology of all types.
Harvey is survived by his son, Dean of Olathe; daughter Elaine Buda of Grand Junction, CO; grandsons, Paul and Spencer Buda; and sister Wanda McHenry of Greeley, CO. His brother, Howard, and parents preceded him in death.
