Harry Lee Franklin, age 70, of Ouray, Colorado passed away March 26, 2013 at his home. Harry was born July 5, 1942 to James Edgar and Mamie Elberta (Bales) Franklin in Center, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Olathe and graduated from the Olathe High School. At the age of 20 Harry enlisted and served his country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1970. He worked at the Idarado Mines for a number of years, then worked for the Town of Ouray for 32 years, prior to his retirement. Harry was a member of the N.R.A., and the American Legion and the V.F.W. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting fishing and camping.
Surviving family members include a sister-in-law Jacquelynn Franklin of Norwood, Co; brother-in-law Melvin Barks of Redvale, Co; along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service in celebration of Harry’s life will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 2:30 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. The service will conclude at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
