Harold “Harry” Taliaferro

October 24, 1931 ~ April 18, 2015

Harry was born October 24, 1931 in Severy, Kansas, near Wichita, to father, Harry Taliaferro and mother, Edith Canon Taliaferro.  Harry was the youngest of eight children.  Upon graduation from high school, Harry enlisted in the Navy and served his country for the next four years and was able to sail around the world.

Harry then went to work for the Boeing Aircraft Company for the next five years.  He also worked for the Cessna Aircraft as a machinist mate for three years.  In December 1966, Harry went to work for the Carnation Company, can division.  The Carnation Company was sold to Nestle and the Silgan containers division.  Harry worked for a combined 30 years for these companies and then retired in November 1996.  Harry and his wife, Diane then decided to make Montrose Colorado their home that same year.  Diane died of Cancer in July of 1999.

In The fall of 1999, Harry and DeLoris met at the Elk’s Club while in line for initiation for new members, and this was the beginning of their 15 year romance.  They were married in April 1, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Montrose.

Shortly after their wedding, they embarked on a 2 ½ month trip with their camper to Alaska.  They enjoyed many camping trips together for many years.  Harry and DeLoris shared a unique life of love and friendship.  They knew they were so lucky to have each other.  Harry adored DeLoris!  She was his soul mate, and a very loving and caring wife who took care of Harry to the nth degree.  Harry is survived by his wife, DeLoris and numerous nephews and nieces.
