After military service, Harold worked with his father, a Southern California building and painting contractor. He went on to spend 47 years in the painting industry, completing his career as an independent contractor.
Harold was an avid sportsman, with deep-sea fishing being his sporting passion. He passed along his love for the outdoors to his children, introducing them to hiking, fishing, and biking, as well as major team sports. Harold is remembered for establishing and maintaining his beautiful yards, with particular care given to his treasured roses. He was a compassionate and generous man, often coming to the aid of someone in need, whether a family member, friend, or a stranger he encountered. But most important to Harold was sharing life with his wife Rhoda, along with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and actively serving in his church, Victory Baptist (Montrose) for the past 20 years.
