H. Dean Tobin

Dean Tobin, age 80, passed away on December 9, 2017 at Montrose Memorial Hospital. Dean was born on January 11, 1937 to Francis T. and Bertha L. (Bishop) Tobin in Montrose, Colorado. Dean lived on a ranch on Spring Creek Mesa until age 10, when the family moved to town. Dean graduated from Montrose High School in 1955. From 1958-1960, Dean served in the United States Army. In 1961, he graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado. He then moved back to Montrose to start his Public Accountant business. While building his business, he worked at the Saw Mill and was a volunteer Firefighter. He retired in 2009. Dean was proud to be a third generation native of Montrose and descendant of one of the pioneer families.
Dean was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the B.P.O.E. (Elks), Montrose Jaycees, and was active in the community. Dean was also a counselor and supporter of AA. He loved traveling, fishing, camping, hunting, and dancing. His greatest pride and joy were his grandkids.
Dean is survived by his son Patrick (Leann) Tobin in Montrose, CO; his daughters, Erin Tobin of Austin, TX; Judy (Jerry) Hollingshead of Montrose, CO; Bridget (Joe) Bollinger of Montrose, CO; his sister Eileen Quint of Montrose, CO; eight grandchildren, Jess (Steve) Decess; James (Brooke) Hollingshead; Josh (Erin) Hollingshead; Bryce Tobin; Dylan Tobin; Becca (Mark) Monson; Justin Bollinger; Ashley Bollinger; two great-grandchildren, Gabe and Faith Hollingshead.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents Francis and Bertha Tobin; his brother Robert Tobin; and his sisters Lois McCaslin, and Joan Blair.

There will be a Rosary on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be Friday, December 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose, Colorado. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory. (970)249-2121
