Gerald Dwight Schwarz, 86, died peacefully in his sleep, in his home in Montrose, Colorado.
Gerald was born in Chapman, Nebraska on December 6, 1931 to the late Lawrence Schwarz and Doris (Snideman) Schwarz.
He graduated from Campion Academy in Loveland, Colorado. He attended Union College and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He furthered his studies in Minneapolis at the Minnesota School of Lab Technology.
Gerald proudly served his country in the US Army. Gerald was a Medical Technologist and Lab Director in Montrose for over 40 years at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He also was a successful entrepreneur and was co-owner of Allison’s Clothing.
Gerald loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, skiing, hiking and playing softball. He also enjoyed spending time with his four children and eight grandchildren.
Surviving family members: three sons Douglas Schwarz, Bryan Schwarz and wife Mindy, Calvin Schwarz and wife Nancy, and daughter Kimry Schwarz. One brother Dale Schwarz, sisters: Wilette Clark and husband Frank, Phyllis Krueger and husband Arlo. Grandchildren – Chris Schwarz, Brandon Schwarz, Marleigh Schwarz, Sarah Schwarz, Bradon Schwarz, Leah (Schwarz) Pieper and husband Reis, Mark Schwarz. Former spouses: Carol (Brethouwer – Schwarz) Broeder, and Linda (Voehringer) Schwarz.
Gerald was predeceased by his father and mother, son Jeffery Schwarz and sister-in-law Uarda (Radspinner) Schwarz.
A Celebration of Gerald’s life will be held at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, Montrose, CO on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1:00pm.
