George W. Townsend

George W. Townsend, age 88, of Montrose, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Montrose Memorial Hospital.  George was born November 15, 1925 in Cassopolis, MI.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jackie Townsend; daughter Sandy (Paul) Cross, and son George (Beverly) Townsend; grandchildren Bobbi (Tom) Weber, Monique (David) Salido, Carri Thompson, and Joe (Jessica) Silva; great-grandchildren Tyler, Heather, Anthony, Brandy, Ryan, and Reese.  Barbara Townsend, Rick Thompson, and several nieces and nephews were also honored to share George’s life. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colorado Talking Book Library, 180 Sherman Blvd., Denver, Colorado 80266.  At George’s request, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
