George John Rosar, of Montrose, died January 29, 2014 at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose at the age of 92.  George was born January 16, 1922 to George and Mary Elizabeth (Lewis) Rosar in Superior, Wisconsin.  He spent his childhood and graduated from high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  George went on to college at the University of Minnesota.  He served his country in the United States Navy from 1941 to 1946 and then the Naval Reserve through 1974. 

He married Wilma Ramage on January 13, 1945 in Norman, Oklahoma.  She preceded him in death on July 14, 2007 in Montrose. George and Wilma had also resided in San Bernardino, California where George’s was Purchasing Agent for Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino for 20 years before moving to Montrose where they made their home until their time of death.

George was a long time member of the Elk’s Lodge, the N.A.R.F.E. (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), Jane Jefferson Club and Black Canyon Duplicate Bridge Club.  He enjoyed politics but also the outdoors, going fishing and traveling. 

Surviving family members include two daughters Marcia (Bill) Heckard of Montrose, Liz (Roger) Schlosser of Helena, Montana; four grandchildren Will and Andrew Heckard, Katy Williams and Amanda Schlosser and two great-grandchildren Ava and Grant Williams.  George was preceded in death by his parents, brother, a son Bob Rosar and his wife Wilma.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00a.m. at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, with Richard Ball Officiating.  A reception will follow the service at the Montrose Elk’s Lodge.   A private family Interment has already taken place at the Olathe Cemetery, Next to his wife, Wilma.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in memory of George Rosar.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory, Montrose, Colorado
