Geneva Lucille Sullivan Wells, died at Montrose Memorial Hospital on April 25, 2018. She was 103.
Born, August 6, 1914, at Simpson, Illinois, to Lydia Mary and William Franklin Sullivan, she attended high school at Robbs, Illinois, and worked at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. On September 1, 1944, she married Charles Wells at Havana, Illinois. Their children are Norma, Bettie, Nola, and Melba.
In 1953 the family moved to Pekin, Illinois. Geneva worked 15 years at Peoria State Hospital. After retirement she and Charles moved to Montrose, Colorado, where Charles died in 1999. A resident of Montrose for more than 40 years, Geneva has 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
As a young woman Geneva committed her life to Christ. She loved God, family, friends, and serving others. She was a hard worker and loved gardening, cooking, and reading. She faced the dark trials in her life with faith, hope and courage. She insisted on being physically active, well into her 90’s.
A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1020 South 5th Street, in Montrose, on Friday, May 4th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Grand View Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home.
