 GENE ALAN “AL” BECKER

 August 28, 1948---July 4, 2024

 Genesis 3:19 (KJV)

Al Becker, 75, of Montrose, CO went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 4th, 2024. He passed away at Elk Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Montrose, CO after a long, hard fought battle with COPD.

Al will always be remembered as a wonderful husband and father. He was kind, generous, hard-working, faithful and a man of integrity. He also had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories about many things. He was an avid drag racing fan and a longtime member of the NHRA.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vicki, of the family home in Montrose. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Brooke, of Arabi, LA and his much loved cat, Annie, who also served as his nurse in his declining days. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Jackie, and her husband, Rick Eaton of Peyton, CO; and one nephew, Luke Pierce of Toledo, Ohio. Not to be forgotten are Al’s three wonderful cousins, all of St. Louis, MO: Lynn Isenberg, Laura May, and Dale Mara.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Gene Becker of St. Louis, MO and his beloved cats Cricket, Kato, Lucinda and Arthur. (and many others, too numerous to name)

The family would like to thank all of the people who helped us on this journey: Our primary care physician, Dr. Melinda Marzolf; Al’s pulmonologist, Dr.

Marcella Abuid; the wonderful staff at Hope West Hospice; Al’s hospice nurse, Tamara Anderson and our social worker, Andrea Thompson----both are very dear to us---they will both be life-long friends. We would also like to thank the staff at the Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction and the staff at Elk Ridge HRC. And a special thanks to Aerocare who provided Al’s oxygen needs for many years.

The burial took place in Grand View Cemetery and per Al’s request there were no services. In lieu of flowers, the family would be greatly blessed if you would consider making a small donation in memory of Al, to Hope West Hospice, 725 S. 4th St., Montrose, CO 81401.
