Longtime resident of Ouray, Colorado, Gemma Mattivi, age 89, passed away on January 18, 2018 in Ridgway, Colorado. Gemma was born on February 19, 1928 in Bedollo, Trento, Italy to Antonio and Rosa (Ferrari) Casagranda. On November 25, 1947, Gemma married Dominic Mattivi in Bedollo Trento, Italy. They celebrated 35 years before Dominic’s passing in 1982. In 1948 Gemma and Dominic made their home in Ouray, Colorado. Gemma worked as the housekeeper for the Twin Peaks Motel for 25 years. She was a member of St. Ann’s Alter Society, the Colorado Trentini Club, and St. Daniel’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crochet, sewing, cooking polenta for her family, and going to casinos. Above all, she loved her family and the members of her community.
Gemma is survived by her son, Sheriff Dominic “Junior” Mattivi (Lee Allison) of Ouray, CO; her daughter, Irene Mattivi of Ouray, CO; her daughter-in-law, Laura Mattivi; her sisters Lena Mattivi of Centrale, Trento, Italy; Erina Casagranda of Wongretta, Victoria, Australia; Andreina Toniolli of Bedollo, Trento, Italy; two grandchildren, Michael Mattivi, Amber (Mike) Mattivi Wharton; three step-grandsons, Matt, Drew, Alex, and Tyler. Gemma is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Rosa Casagranda; her husband Dominic Mattivi; and her son Joseph Mattivi.

Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory in Montrose, CO.
