Gary Grant Gargus of Montrose, CO, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 after a long illness at the age of 71. He was born in Highland, IL on August 31, 1942 to Grant and Delores Gargus.  He met the love of his life, Inola Major and they were married in 1962.  They moved their family from Spearfish, SD to Montrose in 1976 where he spent the rest of his life.  Gary served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years, served during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant.

   Gary continued his mechanical abilities after serving our Country working as an automobile and equipment mechanic.  He retired from Western Area Power Administration.  Gary enjoyed the outdoors and appreciated the Colorado mountains where he liked to hunt and take weekend drives with his family.

Gary is survived by his wife of 51 years, Inola Gargus of Montrose;  four daughters, Tammie Woods of Arlington, TX, Sheila (Brian) Ball of Delta, CO, Regina (Paul) Fischer, of Overland Park, KS, and Patricia “Trish” (Brian) Melendy of Loveland, CO;  one sister, Brenda (Rich) Keepin of Youngstown, FL;  eight grandchildren, Kristina (Ray) Forney, Jamie (Della) Gargus, Donald (Courtney) Woods, Danyelle (Adam) Johnston, Christopher (Jenna) Garcia, Michael Kiddy, Eryn Fischer and Donavan Kiddy; and seven great-grandchildren.  He is proceeded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating.  The service will conclude at the chapel.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
