Dorthea Diel, age 86, passed away April 16, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Montrose, Co., under the care of Hospice.  Dorthea was born on August 1, 1926 to James and Alma Moren in Huntsville, Arkansas.

She is survived by sons Larry (Sharon) Smithey, Pierce, Colorado, Lynn Smithey, Pierce, Colorado; daughters Linda Smithey, Vernal, Utah, Lois (Jim) Owens, Montrose, Colorado and Bob (Cathy) Woolley, Pueblo, Colorado, and one sister Lea Birk, Springdale, Arkansas.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Diel, her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Her years in the workforce before her retirement in 1988, was owning and operating a Laundromat and dry cleaning business, furniture sales, and working in the hardware business.  She enjoyed her volunteer work at the Montrose Pavilion, and the many friends that she knew there and visited with.  Cremation was at Dorthea’s request.  In honor and memory of Dorthea, donations may be made in her name, Frances Dorothea Diel to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co.  81402.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
