Frances M. Pearsall

Frances M. Pearsall, of Montrose, died April 17, 2014 at the Homestead at Montrose. She was 90 years old. Frances was born January 13, 1924 to Willis and Anna (Allen) Weber in Montrose. She attended Oak Grove School and graduated from Montrose High School in 1942. Frances went on to Western State College in Gunnison and graduated with a BA in Business and Commercial in 1946. She taught high school Business for five years in Gooding, Idaho then moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where she taught high school Business for one year.
Frances married James L. “Larry” Pearsall in May 1953; Larry died September 29, 1999. Together, Larry and Frances operated Pearsall Nursery in Montrose for many years. This successful business was a joy for them both. Frances became very knowledgeable about the nursery business and was passionate about Colorado mountain flowers, annuals and perennials with a special fondness for iris, roses and Colorado columbine.
Her church and the Lord were a very important part of her daily life. As a longtime member of Montrose Christian Church, Frances was very active in study groups and mission work and, for many years, served as the Forwarding Agent for the Columbia for Christ Mission located in Columbia, South America. Frances spent long hours reading her bible and western fiction and non-fiction with a particular interest in the history of western Colorado.
Surviving family members include her son, James W. Pearsall (Laura) of Montrose; sister, Betty Hoch of Montrose; grandchildren Joshua Pearsall (Tamela) and Rachel Mutschler (Justin); and great-grandchildren Madalyn Pearsall and Jacob Mutschler. She was very proud of her grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel, with whom she shared a very close relationship. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Pearsall, and her son, Brian A. Pearsall.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel, with Minister Spencer Powers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
