Frances Hamblin

June 23, 1923 — February 19, 2013

Frances “Nadine” Hamblin was born June 23, 1923 to Noah C. and Katie (Dinkens) Sturgeon in Greenville, Missouri.  She spent some of her childhood in Greenville, before the family moved to Olathe, Colorado where she attended her high school years at the Olathe High School.  Nadine married Bob G. Hamblin on September 9, 1942 in Lawton, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1998 in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Nadine and her family had resided in California, various places in Colorado before moving to Montrose, Colorado where they made their home until Nadine’s time of death. Following the death of her husband, Nadine relocated to Delta, where she resided for seven years, and then moved to be with family in Montrose, where she was cared for by her daughter, Vonnie and her husband Ron until her time of death.  Nadine and Bob were members of the Montrose Christian Church prior to their elderly years.   She loved rock hunting, tending to her flowers and gardening.  Nadine enjoyed crafts, sewing, painting, and being a homemaker to her loving family.

Surviving family members include her Children,  David (Sherry) Hamblin of Montrose; Colorado, Connie (Ron) Carlyle of Delta, Colorado, Vonnie (Ron) Dalton of Montrose, Colorado, Sue (Bud) Gardner of Melbourne Beach, Florida,  Linda (Merlin) Crapo of Spokane, Washington; brothers Dallas Sturgeon and Clarence Sturgeon of Denver, Colorado, Bob Sturgeon of Olathe, Colorado; a sister Ruth Miller of Eckert, Colorado; 17 grandchildren, 17 1/2 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Eugene Sturgeon and her husband, Bob Hamblin.

A Graveside Interment Service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at the Olathe Cemetery in Olathe, Co.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2232 N. 7th Street, Suite B1, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501 or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co.  81401.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
