Florene T. Clayton, age 89, of Olathe, Colorado, died October 26, 2016 at Colorow Care Center in Olathe.  Florene was born January 16, 1927 to John Roy and Rosa Estelle (Brummett) Trapp in Bellview, New Mexico.  She spent her childhood there and graduated from high school in Bellview.

Florene married Cecil A. Clayton on March 4, 1944 in Portales, New Mexico, and Clayton preceded her in death on June 9, 1995.  Florene moved from Carlsbad, New Mexico to Olathe, where she made her home until her time of death.

Florene was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and crafts of all kind.  Florene loved to read and write poetry.  Florene was a member of the Church of Christ in Montrose.

To the union of Florene and Cecil, five children survive; Roda Jean Boyd of Texas, Richard D. (Mary) Clayton, Carolie (Mike) Ancell of Montrose, Roger W. Clayton of New Mexico, and Kathy D. (Steve) McCullough of Olathe, Colorado; one brother, Verlin Trapp of New Mexico, and a sister Vera John of North Carolina.  Florene is survived by by nine grandchildren, Clayton Boyd, Ricky Clayton, Jessica Clayton, Johnny Ancell, Jody LaRue, Cassie Clayton, Rod Clayton, Eric McCullough, Nathan McCullough, and 14 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.

There will be a Viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Grand View Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please consider making donations to Colorow Care Center at P.O.
