Faye Fresques passed peacefully with her family at her side on February 14, 2016, at age 93, in Montrose, CO.  Faye was born Maria Fedelina Gallegos, on December 3, 1922 to her parents Cirilio Gallegos and Elsie Struck in Del Norte, CO.  A total of six siblings completed the family. She held her childhood memories dear and often recounted an idyllic life with her parents, brothers and sisters in the San Luis Valley of Colorado.

On April 12, 1948, Faye was married to Nick Fresques in Montrose, CO.  Their marriage was blessed by three sons; Nick, Jerry and Dave. A faithful member of the Catholic Church, she participated in weekly communion and held faith and family traditions strong.  Nick and Faye were active in the Black Canyon Twirlers and traveled extensively during the twenty years when Nick was a square dance caller. Nick passed February 8, 2004.

Faye is survived by her three children Nick, of Glendale, AZ, Jerry of Montrose, CO and Dave of Montrose, CO. in addition to five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

She is survived by her brothers Arnold Gallegos and Mike Gallegos of Montrose, CO and two sisters, Clorinda Castillo of Montrose, CO and Esther Gallegos of Delta, CO.  Faye was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice Leon and Freda Espinosa.

Faye’s beautiful character traits manifested in new and creative ways after a life changing event at the age of 46. After the death of her beloved husband, Nick, in 2004, Faye remained a constant loving support to her children and grandchildren. Her determination, witty humor and kindness toward all leave fond memories for us to cherish.  She will be remembered for her precious gentle sprit, warmth and acceptance.  Others learned love and perseverance from her life.  Her family knows she joined Dad for a special Valentine’s date when she left this world.

A Celebration of Life and vigil will be held on Friday February 19, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. at Crippin Funeral Home.  Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 20 with graveside services following at Cedar Cemetery.  Reception/ potluck will be at the Lion’s Club at 12:30 PM.  Crippin Funeral Home, Montrose, Colorado is assisting the family.
