Born October 5, 1935 died October 7, 2018. Ethel was born in Dalhart, TX in 1935 to Elzie and Amy O’ Bryant. The family moved to Colorado in 1943. She attended school in Uravan, CO for a year, then the family moved to Delta, CO where they bought a farm in North Delta. Ethel graduated from Delta High School in 1953, she and Ray Austin were then married. They lived in Uravan, where Ray was employed by Union Carbide as a mill worker.

In 1955 she had twin boys born in Uravan. In 1959, a daughter was also born in Uravan. All three children went to school in Uravan and then high school in Nucla. Ethel went to all the sports activities she could and often tried to tell the coaches and players what to do!

She loved to travel, camp, play cards, bake wedding cakes, and many other things. She was a member of the New Hope Pentecostal Church in Naturita.

She is survived by her son Rick and Janna Austin of Cross Plains, TX; daughter Debbie and Doug Skiles of Colstrip, MT; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sister Elenor Ament; her close friend and helper Christi Hubbard, and many nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Amy O’Bryant; sister Edith Berry; brother Calvin O’Bryant; husband Ray Austin; husband Harold Pifer; long-time partner and friend, Pete Franks; and son Rod Austin.
