Ethel Corene Taylor, age 91 of Montrose, Colorado, passed away on April 3, 3015 at San Juan Living Center in Montrose.  Ethel was born September 5, 1923 to Jesse and Mabel (Leffel) Baldwin.

Her family moved from Oklahoma to Arizona, Utah, then various places in Colorado. The family eventually moved to Montrose where they stayed, made their home and raised the family.

In 1956, Ethel married Jack Taylor and lived in Phoenix, Arizona and raised six sons.  Jack preceded Ethel in death in 1994.  Ethel loved the outdoors.  She enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a camp cook for many years, for a local outfitter, Doug Flowers.  Ethel will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.  Ethel was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Weldon Baldwin, Joe Baldwin, Sue Croker, Esther Neff, Jesse Baldwin, Jack Baldwin and Juanita Thompson.

At a young age, Ethel was the care giver for her brothers and sisters, then their children, grandchildren, including nieces and nephews.  She was there for any family and friends of any age. Ethel took in Foster Kids, who needed a home and was a second mother to many.  She was a strict but fun loving person who never knew a stranger.  She was an excellent cook and homemaker.  Ethel had a great love for animals and she loved dogs and always had a dog that was just a reach away.

Surviving family members include her children, Frederick ‘Butch’ Hall, Mike Williams, Tom Taylor, all of Cortez, CO., Tim Taylor, of Vernal, UT, Tad Taylor and wife Susie, and Jack Taylor of Montrose, CO; brothers and sisters, Verna Martin of Cortez, CO., Glenda Pilgram of Chickasha, OK, Beverly Baldwin of Cortez, CO., Joan Brownen of Chickasha, OK., and Buck Baldwin of Sierra Vista, AZ; and seventeen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service in celebration of Ethel’s life will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Crippin Chapel.  Burial will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.  A potluck reception will immediately follow the Interment.  Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
