Ernest Carl Mueller,age 91,of Montrose, Co., and former resident of Del Webb Sun City in Palm Desert, California, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2013 after a heroic battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Ernie was born in Bruhl, Germany. He and his parents left Germany when Ernie was six years old. They settled in Portland, Oregon. At the age of 18, Ernie received an honorable discharge from the Civilian Conservation Corps and then served honorably in the U.S. Naval Service from 1942 until 1945. In Northern California, he worked 35 years as a government employee in the naval electronic field.
Ernie’s three wives preceded him in death. He traveled to many places in the world both for pleasure and during his service in the Navy. He enjoyed tennis, reading, dancing and swimming.
He is survived by his son Ronald Mueller of Stockton, CA, nephew Mike Mueller of Escondido, CA, stepdaughter Gloria Jean Slaker of Montrose, CO, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be celebrated at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Ernest Mueller, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co., 81402. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
