Edward Robert Krebs
Edward Robert Krebs passed away peacefully at San Juan Nursing Home on Friday the 6th of November at the age of 93.
Edward was born on March the 28th, 1922 in Saginaw Michigan. On July 20th 1942 at the age of 20, he enlisted in the United States Navy, and was soon made the quartermaster of the fleet submarine USS Queenfish. Edward was part of the crew for the ship’s six war patrols. He received the American Area Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal for World War II. At the time of his Honorable Discharge from military service he attained the rank of Quartermaster 3rd Class.
He attended and graduated from Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He soon married Margaret Jean Ritchie Edward, and raised three children; Jeffrey, Mark, and Kathy.
In his stateside career, Edward was involved in building the United States Highway System, through the buying and selling of heavy equipment with Colorado Builder’s Supply Company (COBUSCO).
Edward is survived by his wife and three children. Margaret lives here in Montrose. Their son Jeffrey has been a Family Physician in Montrose for over 22 years. Mark is also a Mechanical Engineer residing in St. Louis Missouri. Kathy recently retired from teaching after a long career in Hale Center Texas. Edward prized his 5 grandkids and 7 great grandchildren.
Services were handled by Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose, with a Memorial Service on Monday 9 November at 11:00 AM at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.
