Edward David Greene

Edward David Greene passed away on February 11, 2025 at the age of 80 in Montrose, CO after an 18-month battle with cancer. 

Ed was born to Edward and Harriet Greene in 1944, was raised in Detroit, Michigan and was a lifelong fan of the Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and Lions. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1965 and was stationed at The Great Lakes and in Alaska. He loved Alaska and spoke about his time there often. While living in Alaska, he began a DJ career and was a natural on the microphone. 

Ed met his wife of 54 years, Sherrie Greene on a blind date in 1970. They married 2 months later and welcomed four beloved children between 1971-1976. Their life together and Ed's job in sales with the yellow pages took them to Boise, Idaho; Bristol, Connecticut; Loveland, Colorado; Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; Denver, Colorado and Montrose, Colorado. 

While living in Montrose for the past 14 years, Ed was a member of Grace Community Church and volunteered with their Gym's Diner Ministry every Wednesday, a member of the Warrior Resource Center and a weekly men's Bible study. 

Ed loved watching his favorite Detroit sports teams and the TV was always tuned to one of their games. He also was his grandson's biggest cheerleader and spent a lot of time at a variety of baseball fields, ice rinks, golf courses and football fields. 

Ed loved bowling and playing golf and played both in all the states he lived in. 

Ed began each and every one of his days with a smile on his face, love in his heart and a positive attitude. 

Ed is survived by his wife, Sherrie Greene; his daughter Jennifer Greene and her three sons- Dante, Nico and Rocky Marchitelli; his daughter Becca Edwards and her husband Jeff; his son Josh Greene and his wife Terri and his daughter Amanda Katt, her husband Lance and their sons- Dakota and Blake. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by many nieces and nephews. While he will be deeply missed, Ed's family is comforted in knowing that he is now out of pain and at peace. 

A celebration of life will be held June 14th at Grace Community Church in Montrose, CO.
